Lake Activities

Fed from deep underground springs, Clear Lake arguably has the clearest cleanest waters in the province — making it a popular swimming destination! The main beach area has change rooms, washrooms, and an outdoor shower. Walking along the lakeshore path, you can find public docks, watch aquatic wildlife, and take in beautiful summer sunsets. Bring your paddle boards and kayaks, or rent a boat from the marina to properly explore Riding Mountain National Park's largest lake!

Other swimming, canoeing and fishing spots in the Park include Lake Katherine (11km), Lake Audy (30km) and Moon Lake (35km).

Dining

Your morning hit of caffeine can be found at the Lakehouse, Poor Michael’s, Upper Cup or Whitehouse. For a quick snack or lunch, we suggest picking up something at the Trading Post Deli. For an evening out, we recommend dinner at TR McKOY’s and a movie next door at The Park Theatre. Alternatively, try booking a sunset cruise on The Martese to enjoy dinner on the lake.

To satisfy your sweet tooth — visit the Sugar Shop, Boardwalk or Beaver Tails. Late night drinks can be found at Wigwam or Southgate.

Shopping

Shopping in Wasagaming is plentiful! If you’re looking for a souvenir, gift or new personal accessory — there’s something for everyone. We recommend checking out Chocolate Fox, From the Earth Jewellery, The Gorge, The Spinning Wheel, The Park Bench, Peachtree or Mainly Manitoba — just to name a few!

Hiking & Biking

The hiking in Riding Mountain National Park is among the most scenic and inspiring in Manitoba. Ranging from walks and easy hikes to winding backcountry excursions, hiking is an accessible and easy way to immerse yourself in nature! In fact, Riding Mountain National Park resides in three different ecosystems; grasslands, upland boreal and eastern deciduous forests --- allowing you to experience a range of terrains and landscapes in a single trek!

Some of our favourite trails include: Greyowl, Kinasao, Reeve's Ravine, and Bald Hill. Click here to see the RMNP's trail condition guide.

Entertainment & Activities

Outdoor activities (within the townsite) range from mini golf, tennis, pickle-ball at the local tennis courts; lawn bowling at the Clear Lake Bowling Greens; or even renting a four-wheel Surrey bike to explore town. Other activities we would suggest include volleyball or ultimate frisbee down by the lake, or basketball over by the Fire Hall. Clear Lake is also well-known for its golf courses — most notable are the Clear Lake Golf Course (6km), Poplar Ridge (4km) or Lakewood (4.5km).

For indoor fun, we recommend visiting the Wasagaming Community Arts Gallery to see work by local artists, checking out the Park Theatre schedule to catch the latest films, or re-living history at the Pinewood Museum.

Nature & Wildlife

Spot wildlife in their natural habitat! Common animal inhabitants of the park include moose, bison, white-tailed deer, elk, black bears and lynx. For a family friendly wildlife experience, we would recommend walking the Ominnik Marsh Boardwalk (250m) to see a variety of insects, birds, and (hopefully) a few beavers! For the more adventurous, check out the bison enclosure by Lady Audy (39km).
